The Garza County Regional Juvenile Center, a Cornerstone Programs facility located in Post, Texas, has been awarded the Texas Juvenile Justice Department’s “Residential Provider of the Year” for Fiscal year 2013!
In consideration for the award, GCRJC was evaluated against measures for residential programs, including: Number of Serious Incidents, Number of Confirmed Mistreatments, Responsiveness to Youth Grievances/Complaints, Monitoring and Inspection Comprehensive Review Score and Re-Incarceration Rates for Youth after the completion of the program.
The Texas Juvenile Justice Department found that GCRJC exceeded expectations in those measures. The program has been recognized for the responsive and credible handling of youth grievances to deal with issues or questions that impact youth served by the Center. According to TJJD, GCRJC had the highest M&I Comprehensive Review Score at 92.95% and had the lowest re-incarceration rate at the one year benchmark, at 4.3%!
The GCRJC program has developed and maintained a positive youth culture that has allowed effective youth and staff interaction and fostered a facility environment that is conducive for youth to participate and get the most out of the therapeutic services offered. By establishing rapport and sound therapeutic principles in their daily interaction with program youth and in the completion of their duties, GCRJC staff have elevated the program to a level that meets and exceeds the program measures set forth by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. For this, the staff at GCRJC are to be commended.
